Wood (1984-1986)
During one of his walks Pablo saw a piece of trunk of a tree split open and exposing the splendid grains. Nature gave him inspiration. It had to be wood. So a series of deceivingly real blocks of wood came into being. After some experiments with it, he didn't get the satisfaction nor the excitement he had expected. It had to be more. He then struck on the idea to make torsos which would suggest to be made out of wood.
Pablo was especially fascinated by the power of the men and the elegant round shapes of the women. Ceramic statues with a wooden structure, but real to life.
