Guardia Civil (1983-1984) 12 pieces

The body of the Guardia Civil (recognizable by the typical hear-gear, the tricornio) was introduced by the Spanish government during the administration of Queen Isabella in 1844. Through this series it was Pablo's goal not to judge, but to show how people can change when they put on a uniform; and how they obtain artificial dignity and lose humanity in the process. His own encounter with the Guardia Civil in his youth has deeply touched him. This series was - and in fact still is - his warning to be aware of intolerance and corruption. You only have to put on the TV or open a newspaper to know if much has changed since the days of the Guardia Civil.
For Pablo the statues of the Guardia Civil were images with limited individial capacity. Eternal images which were magnificently put to life by Pablo.
